The GenOMICC study has expanded its recruitment cohort to include babies born before 32 weeks postmenstrual age.
Help us understand and find new treatments for covid, sepsis, influenza and other forms of critical illness. The GenOMICC study has obtained DNA from 29735 patients in the UK. The aim is to identify genetic variants that contribute to an increased likelihood of developing Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD) in the UK population and to help identify targets for new therapies and treatments that will prevent and treat this disease in future, and improve the quality of life for babies, children and young people affected by BPD during their lifetime.
With as many as 2,000 new BPD cases occurring in the UK each year, there is an urgent need to find new treatments. Taking part in the study involves consent, sampling (one single sample), and completion of a short eCRF. We are already recruiting in most Trusts in the UK so could already be recruiting adults and/or children in your area.
