The psychology annual report is now out. In 2024 we provided course places for 70% of the psychological professionals working on, or supporting neonatal units. Those that did not take up places were unable due to lack of time. This was funded via the Ockenden funding and aimed to develop the expert workforce as per the recommendations of the NCCR.

Psychological professional remain incredibly short staffed, with all 27 units in London not having psychological support at staffing standards level. Currently our provision is at 26% of what it should be, so we have huge gaps to fill. Therefore in 2025 the lead psychologist will be focusing on supporting units who are putting in business cases to get or increase psychological provision.
