Preterm Birth Perinatal Optimisation Leaflets now LIVE in 26 languages
Developed in collaboration with London’s Health Innovation Networks, the Neonatal ODN, and parents with lived experience, our new Preterm Birth Perinatal Optimisation leaflet complements the BAPM Parent Passport by offering clearer, more detailed guidance for families facing birth before 34 weeks.
With over half of preterm births occurring without risk factors, this resource helps clinical teams explain what to expect and empowers parents with accessible, inclusive information.
Why it’s useful:
- Designed for use in preterm clinics, during threatened or confirmed preterm labour and on the neonatal unit
- Helps bridge gaps in understanding when time is short and emotions are high
Accessible by design:
- Available in 26 languages
- Friendly for colour blindness, dyslexia, and audio description
- Written for a reading age of 8
- Gender-neutral and personalised (“your baby,” “your pregnancy”)
How to access:
- View digitally via the parent resources page
- Clinicians can print A5 booklets (and posters/stickers) directly from the healthcare professionals area
- Posters and stickers in clinical areas will help parents access it independently
