Neonatal Physiotherapy Special Interest Group

We have launched a “Neonatal Physiotherapy Special Interest Group” workspace on Futures, jointly with APCP and National Physio ODN leads, which is a dedicated space for neonatal physios across the UK to connect, collaborate and support one another. It’s been very successful so far with lots of engagement and content, and we’ve already had almost 90 people sign up 😊

Respiratory Management and Airway Clearance Guideline

Maria and some colleagues presented our Respiratory Management and Airway Clearance Guideline at the London Medical Conference in May, shifting the focus from reactive to proactive/preventative management of neonates.

We are also looking forward to a joint nursing/physio education day in July, where we’re expecting up to 80 attendees for workshop-based MDT learning.

Other News

We had our bi-annual physio skills and peer support day in May which had great feedback, where we had an opportunity to do network-wide shared learning.

Our updated APCP Good Practice Guide for Neonatal Physios (jointly authored with physio ODN leads) has gone out for review. It’s a huge piece of work, and we hope to publish it this summer, so watch this space!

We’re also in the process of updating our national physiotherapy staffing recommendations document, to include more around follow up/outreach/TC. We are also aiming for publication this summer.
