Parent Resources

Navigating the world of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can be emotionally overwhelming and info-hungry. While we’ve covered the team and communication aspects, this expanded guide offers further resources and support for parents, including websites, hotlines, and helpful information.

Information Leaflets

This leaflet has been designed to support parents, carers & families around the topic of infection control and its prevention on a neonatal unit.

This leaflet may not answer all your questions and you are encouraged to discuss any concerns you may have with your baby’s clinical team.

Parenteral Nutrition, also known as PN is used to feed extremely premature or unwell babies. It may also be called Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) where it is the only source of food and fluid.

Hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) may be diagnosed when a baby’s brain does not receive enough oxygen and/or blood flow around the time of birth.
